All the juicy secrets on how to convince the world that you have a "bikini body".
Whatever your ideal bikni body type may be in the back of your mind, there's no avoiding that time of year that YOU will be flaunting that swimsuit body of your own.
"Swimsuit body of YOUR OWN?" you may be thinking, yes, you look hot in a swimsuit as well. The secret lies in the swimwear itself (and a little self confidence!)
Summer may be a time that you don't look forward to - having to reveal your winter body that was forgotten for 3-9 months is a shock when you remember you have a torso that isn't just layers of knitwear ... but I hope that by the end of this blog post, you'll feel a little lighter about the situation of putting on a bikini. Even if you are comfortable in swimwear, maybe you'll pick up a few useful ideas along the way.
1. Sizing.
A big mistake that lots of girls and women make is choosing the wrong sized bikini. We often walk into any old store and chose the bikini that is the same size as all their other clothing. But for many women, your bikini sizing should vary according to your curves, cup size, and the bikini style. For example, to suit my body I choose alternating sizes for the tops and bottoms of a bikini. All m
y bikini bottoms have thing elastic waistbands etc. because they don't create any extra 'curves' that I dont need. LADIES, DON'T BUY YOUR BIKINIS TOO TIGHT!!! But in saying that, never buy too big... wardrobe malfunctions are difficult when you arent wearing much!

Tips:
When you're trying on, tops should feel like the perfect fit, the straps should have room to loosen up. Bottoms should feel quite snug over your underwear, but not to the point that the edges cut into your skin!
The more common 'ruched' bikini bottoms and bikini cut bottoms are so flattering on any body type! A little cheeky, but the style on the left is always unflattering and is going out of trend (and thank god for that.)

Try to avoid: Thick elastic waistbands, especially too tight ones.
Tops that don't cover the outer part of the breast.
Go for: Thin elastic waistbands, and the same elastisity throughout the entire peice - will normally be more flattering around any curves.
2. The perfect bra, the perfect bikini
The second thing women almost ALWAYS forget about is their cup size when buying bikinis! Ladies, the same thing applies with bikinis as it does with bras!!!
Before bikini shopping, think about what outcome you want: Complete coverage and support? Comfort? or to show off your breast friends...
For smaller chests, you can go for anything; underwire isn't nessesary! You're lucky, because you can pretty much pull off any type of bikini, from strapless to push ups.
As for bustier women, support, comfort and sometimes coverage. Underwire, padding, halter tops and over the shoulder straps are your best friends!

3. Reality Checks

In reality, as women, we will never (or 90% of the time), we will not be completely happy with our bodies. Today we are surrounded by an extensive range of 'ideal' body types that vary far from our own bodies. The media influences our perception of the female body, and whatever catches your eye, or whatever click hooks you in leaves a serious impression on you. Everyone's ideal female body types vary - so whatever views you have of your own body - you'll be the only person who see's your flaws.
Cliche, but here I go, confidence it the most beautiful feature. Being comfortable in your own skin is a desirable trait in the eyes of both sexes.
Find your beautiful features and be proud of them!!
